Dr. Scott Horowitz recently relocated from Brooklyn, New York to Roswell, Georgia after retiring from a 25-year career of dedicated service in education, Dr. Scott Horowitz made a profound impact as a school principal, English teacher, athletic director, as well as a football, basketball, and track and field coach. Dr. Horowitz earned his BA in English/Education while playing Division II. Football and a master’s degree in Intervention/ Educational/ Administration/Supervision. He received his Doctorate from NORTHCENTRAL University in 2015. Dr. Horowitz is deeply passionate about his long-term recovery and in his retirement, he is the co-owner / Director of Community Outreach for a very successful Recovery Residence here in Metro Atlanta and now serving in the capacity of Primary Therapist for Rise Recovery Atlanta. He is very excited about joining Peachtree Recovery. As a dedicated Dual Diagnosis Group Facilitator, Dr. Horowitz specializes in guiding individuals navigating the complexities of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. With a compassionate, structured approach, he integrates the core group modalities—psychoeducational groups, skills development groups, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) groups, and dialectical behavior therapy, as well as interpersonal process groups—to create a dynamic and healing environment. Drawing from evidence-based practices, Dr. H fosters personal insight, emotional regulation, and peer connection, helping participants build sustainable recovery and mental wellness. Passionate about empowering others, he encourages each group member to engage in meaningful change, both within the group and beyond.

Watch the above video in which 12 well-known celebrities discuss their addiction and their path to recovery. Pick one that you related to the most. Were there any that you had no idea about their addiction? Discuss briefly with the group.
